Introduction to Grounded Theory: Planning a Grounded Theory Study
This interactive online workshop is designed for anyone who is considering using Grounded Theory or who has just begun their journey. You can choose to simply listen and learn, or actively share your research plans so we can discuss them together.
We’ll explore key questions such as:
- What is Grounded Theory?
- Is it the right method for your study?
- Is your chosen area of research a good fit?
- Are your proposed/actual data collection methods consistent with Grounded Theory—and how could they be strengthened?
The aim is to help you avoid common early mistakes and set up your project for success.
Together we will:
- Clarify essential Grounded Theory terminology (e.g. indicator, incident, category, code, concept).
- Demonstrate and practice key data analysis techniques such as open coding, constant comparison, and memo writing.
- Work hands-on with your own data (or sample data provided).
Practical Details
Duration: 2–3 hours (via Zoom)
